Social Media Rules and Standards

Overview

Veteran Sport Australia social media communities are a place for veterans, their families, and the public to learn about sport and recreation opportunities, receive updates on the work Veteran Sport Australia does and importantly support one another.

By engaging with Veteran Sport Australia social media platforms you agree to the relevant platform’s Community Standards.

If you are concerned or distressed by content posted on a Veteran Sport Australia social media page please alert the administrator or contact VSA via support@veteransport.org.au or 02 9264 8188.

Respect military service in all forms

As a community we share achievements and challenges. We recognise that many people have their own experience of military service, and some have been impacted by the experience of their loved ones.

Respectful story telling

Issues of mental health, PTSD and rehabilitation have broad reach, affecting many in the wider community. Veteran Sport Australia commits to telling stories in a sensitive, respectful and supportive way.

Take responsibility

Please take responsibility for your behaviour when participating in online communities, and treat other members with respect and support to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Do not post inappropriate content

This includes anything insensitive, obscene, sexually explicit, illegal, harmful, abusive, harassing, humiliating, defamatory, invasive of privacy, misleading or false, or identifies personal details.

Speak up but think before you comment

We encourage thoughtful, constructive and respectful dialogue, however any content or engagement that undermines our community standards and values will be removed.

Keep it focused

We love discussion about issues that matter to our community. However, off topic, spammy posts and sales pitches don’t contribute to the conversation nor benefit our community will be removed.

Content may be shared

Content shared to one Veteran Sport Australia social media page may be shared on other Veteran Sport Australia pages, regional Veteran Sport Australia groups, or partner websites and social media pages (such as RSL NSW and RSL DefenceCare).

Understand the role of Admins

Posts to the Veteran Sport Australia pages are moderated by Administrators. Anything deemed inappropriate by the Administrators will be removed without notice, and individuals responsible may be blocked.
